The Garland Group is comprised of people with an understanding of banking and technology. Our goal is to help banks be better banks. We are open, conversational and someone you can relate to and rely on. Believe it or not, we also like to do fun things like play sports, music, video games, and just kick back and enjoy life.

Brad Garland | CEO

Brad Garland is CEO of The Garland Group. Brad is a speaker, blogger, and handles all strategy and business development for the company. His experience enables him to lead all our consultant engagements and also oversees all development work. Brad brings 13 years of experience in the technology industry with development experience with both open source and and traditional technologies to The Garland Group. Previous projects he has used technologies such as Microsoft .Net and is currently developing a product with Ruby on Rails. His interests are web services, social media, and improving bank processes.

Brad graduated from The University of North Texas with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Computer Science. Brad also does speaking engagements on Web 2.0 and the Banking Industry, and was a featured speaker at a recent Texas Banker’s Association Conference.

Henry E. Garland | Chairman & Founder

Henry Garland has over 30 years of experience working on all phases of information services. He has been responsible for managing large software installation projects, information systems Reviews, new application system design, programming, data center re-organization and re-staffing. Henry has worked in many industries but most consulting areas have been in general management, manufacturing, distribution and finance/banking industries. He has complete P/L responsibilities for DCS Software and Services (now known as The Garland Group) with up to 125 employees. He was a three time winner of Inc 500’s fastest growing private companies, Nominee for Entrepreneur of the Year, as well as many other quality, volunteer and community awards.

Henry manages and performs several FFIEC governed internal technical Reviews involving a variety of hardware, software and operating environments. These Reviews include all aspects of computer security and business continuity planning. Reviews cover operations controls, systems development and documentation controls, hardware and systems controls, access controls, data and procedural controls, physical security, application and processing controls, compliance testing and off-site storage.

Henry has a B.S. in Computer Science, and has participated in many continuing education classes with Wharton school of Business, IBM, Microsoft, Novell and Citrix software. He was recently a featured speaker at several Texas Banker’s Association Technology conferences, and has also presented recently at various trade conventions, workshops and facilitated several round-table discussions.

Roz Garland | Marketing and Administration

Roz came to The Garland Group with over twenty years of teaching experience in the field of music education. Before joining The Garland Group in 2004, she worked at First Baptist Church of Wylie as Communications Director, where she was responsible for all marketing materials, graphic design, web site development, church communications, and data base maintenance. The organizational, management and administrative skills developed and refined in these jobs are now being utilized by The Garland Group.

Roz graduated from Texas A & M University in Commerce with an All-Level Degree in Music Education, and a minor in Art. She is proficient in many computer applications such as Microsoft Office programs: Word, Publisher, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, and Infopath; in graphic programs such as Adobe Photoshop, ImageReady, Illustrator, Acrobat Professional and Quark; and in various database management applications.

Courtney Treadaway, CISA | Security Consultant

Courtney Treadaway has been in the IT industry for over a decade and has been performing FFIEC, CobiT, and GLBA (Gramm Leach Bliley Act) controls reviews for the past 4 years. He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and has a variety of technical experience including various hardware, software, and network support services. Network Security Consultant Eric Kitchens comes to The Garland Group with 10 years experience in the information security field, having previously performed solution design, risk assessment, security management, and incident response for an information technology consulting and outsourcing firm. In these roles, he developed a thorough understanding of computer, network, and application security, and how each relates to the business needs of the customer. He is familiar with Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris and OpenBSD. He has broad experience in web application security, penetration testing, computer forensics tools, firewalls, intrusion detection systems and LAN routing and switching technologies and holds a certification in CISSP. Heath Stanley | Security Consultant

Network Security Consultant Heath has been with the Garland Group since early 2005, and has prior experience with the residential lending industry. He received a degree in Finance from Texas Tech University where he graduated Cum Laude. Heath holds a Network+ certification and is continuing his education with a Security+ certification program, and will continue to pursue other certifications in the field of information technology and security. Juston Glenn | Security Consultant

Juston graduated from LeTourneau University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He has been an
Information Technology Officer for the past 5 years. Juston has experience with ATM batch file systems, ACH processing, ITI core system and applications, Microsoft office applications, loan document imaging, UNISYS mainframe , branch item capture, merchant(deposit) capture, internet banking services, telephone banking operations, electronic cash letter implementation, and processing multiple institutions. He also has experience in reviewing and updating emergency preparedness and contingency procedures, and ITI core and application training.

Nik Prosser | Security Consultant

Nik started with The Garland Group in early November 2008 after just retruning from a 4.5 month stint in Alaska running an Off-Road Jeep Safari operation. Nik has prior experience in the mortgage industry and has a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor in Business Management from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, where he played football for 3 years. He’s currently working on his Network+ certification so he can continue his education in the field of Information Technology and Security. NIk enjoys getting away for SCUBA diving when its warm and hitting the slopes with my snowboard when its chilly. Other than that it’s his motorcycle, sports, or anything in the great outdoors!

Tony Shelton | Security Consultant

Tony joined the Garland Group with over 10 years of IT experience. He was the Team Leader Platform Engineer for Mary Kay’s IST Department specializing in Disaster Recovery planning. Tony has his certification in MSCE on Windows 2000 Server and is continuing to further his education at this time. His other facets of IT include network administration, a multitude of hardware and software services, security systems and operating systems. Tony most recently worked in his own home remodeling company for a few years. He enjoys soccer, mountain biking and the Cleveland Browns. He is originally from Ohio, but got to Texas as soon as he could. He is married to Marcie for 6 years with two wonderful kids, Anthony and Alexa and two Akitas, Phoenix and Chi.

Mark McSpadden | Developer

Mark McSpadden is a software developer and designer with over 5 years experience in the web industry. During this time, he has developed a passion for building applications that are easy and intuitive to use, while being programmatically strong and flexible. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology Management from Texas A&M University where he also earned minors in Business Administration and Mathematics. Technical experience includes:

Dave Kruse | Developer

Dave Kruse is a web developer with over 10 years experience in online marketing and application development. He hails from the great northern land of Minnesota where long winters drive a guy to look for excitement in the latest web technologies. His favorites include xhtml, css, Ruby on Rails, ColdFusion, ASP.NET and AJAX. Dave likes to share his passion through teaching and speaking.

Dave holds a B.S. in English from Minnesota State University, Mankato, an A.A. in Liberal Arts from Bethany Lutheran College and has also studied computer science and graphic design.

Lisa Randolph | Marketing Specialist

Lisa Randolph serves as the Marketing Specialist for The Garland Group. She comes to The Garland Group with an extensive background in marketing, advertising and graphic design. Her previous experience includes event planning, copywriting, account management, advertisement creation and design, website design, and market research through focus groups and surveying.

Lisa graduated from The University of North Texas in December 2007 with a B.A. in Journalism with a concentration in Advertising and a minor in Marketing. Lisa is fluent in many computer applications such as Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe CS2 programs including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Professional, and Apple programs including Pages and iMovie.

Peggy Mason | Administrative Assistant

Peggy comes to The Garland Group as Administrative Assistant and bookkeeper with education and training in the real estate field. She sold real estate for many years before moving to our area to open and operate a retail store. After selling that business, Peggy came to our company and does our Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and other bookkeeping and banking tasks as well as keeping up with our contracts and client information.
