As technology becomes more a part of our lives, there are more and more ways to communicate with one another instantaneously. With family, friends and business partners all around the world, electronic communication is becoming more the norm for everyone.

With the increase use and availability of smart phones, electronic mail, texting and basic calling, communication is available in many forms. With this convenience, users need to practice caution! E-mail was the first method of communication utilizing the Internet, and still remains very popular. E-mail offers instant delivery of information to the recipient or a list of users. Attachments can also be sent with these messages. Users need to be aware of what they are receiving through e-mails, in an effort to avoid viruses and hacking attempts.

Texting or instant messaging also pose a risk to the user. While these ways of communication are also very beneficial, users need to be aware all electronic communications can be forwarded by the recipient to another party. So again, use caution!

Effective communication is beneficial to everyone. E-mailing, texting or placing basic calls, users should find the most effective means for themselves, and practice caution when utilizing this method. Always be aware of your privacy and security settings, ensure your anti-virus is current and regularly update and change your passwords.

Education is the key to safe, secure, electronic communication.
