Tier 2 Technician

IT Voice is currently seeking a full-time Tier 2 Technician to join their team in Tuscaloosa, AL. Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
- Weekend availability
The right candidate will have:
- 3 years of experience in IT field
- Working towards or achieved CompTIA+ and CompTIA Network+
- Knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
- Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
- Records maintenance skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to determine computer problems and to coordinate hardware, software, and/or network solutions.
- Strong understanding of network for troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of OSI Model
- Proficiency with Microsoft Products such as O365, AD, Office Products, etc.
- Willingness to give and receive constructive feedback
Our Tier 2 Technician will:
- Travel to clients’ sites to assist with their IT needs
- Provide advanced technical support to end-users and Tier 1 support staff, assisting with network-related inquiries and issues.
- Perform customer service and maintain professional demeanor that can be relayed over email and phone
- Work with all size businesses using best business practices and ensuring cost effectiveness
- Configure, install, and deploy network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
- Provide desktop support remote/onsite for deployment and troubleshooting
- Identify and resolve network issues, including connectivity problems, slow performance, and hardware failures. Use various network diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
- Ensure that network hardware and software are properly configured and updated.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control policies.
- Make recommendations for optimizing network performance and bandwidth utilization.
- Participate in incident response activities, including identifying security breaches, conducting forensic analysis, and assisting with recovery efforts.
- Work with network equipment vendors and service providers to coordinate hardware maintenance, service contracts, and technical support escalations.
- Provide training and mentorship to Tier 1 support staff and end-users on network-related topics and best practices.
- Ensure network compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA or GDPR, as applicable to the organization.
